Music Festivals T-shirt Design Contest Extended

The closing date for the Rainforest World Music Festival and the Borneo Jazz Festival t-shirt design submission has been extended till 31st January 2013. 

This contest is opened to all students of higher institutions of learning. Winners stand to win tickets worth up to RM1,650 and get to have their design/s worn the world over. A certificate of recognition is also awarded to the winning institutions.

The T-Shirt Design Voting Exhibition will be from 22 - 24 February 2013. It is expected that the top three winners will be announced 28th February 2013.

Sarawak Soaring into the new year of 2013

2013 will be an exciting year for tourism in Sarawak. In fact it will be till 2014.

Come July 2013, Sarawak will begin a year of celebration to commemorate her 50th Anniversary of gaining independence from the British. Our state went on to form Malaysia with Sabah, Singapore (pulled out in Aug '65) and the Federation of Malay states two months later; September 16, 1963.

The official celebration - Visit Sarawak Year will end June 2014. Expect plenty of exciting events lined up. By the way, 2013/2014 is also the Visit Malaysia Year. Double celebrations and great time to plan your trip/s to Malaysia and needless to say... Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo... Where Adventure Lives.

Christmas season in Kuching, the capital city of Sarawak is no different from other cities of the world. The Christmas tree figures! This year tHe Spring Shopping Center put up a 46-footer easily making it the tallest and the most well-decorated tree to date.

Speaking of modern shoppping centers in Kuching, Plaza Merdeka located in the historical quarters of downtown Kuching opened its door recently 12-12-12; auspicious indeed. For a start, the once quiet enclave of the Sarawak Tourism Complex and India Street's night life will never be the same again.

RAFFLESIA in Serian

We have discovered a new group of Rafflesia in BUKIT TASAU, KPG LEBOR, GEDONG, SERIAN.

The journey to Bukit Tasau takes about 30 or 45 minutes drive from Kuching City to Serian Town, another 30 minutes from Serian Town to the junction of Bukit Tasau foothill (Kpg Lebor). Continued by another 20 minutes drive up to the hill, and trekking to the RAFFLESIA area takes about 25 minutes.
